The TUM Entrepreneurship Research Institute is looking for a PhD candidate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, m/w/d), starting in early 2024.


At the TUM Entrepreneurship Research Institute, our emphasis is on exploring the dynamics of entrepreneurial individuals and organizations. We are seeking dynamic, self-motivated team players with a keen interest in pursuing an academic career.

Joining our vibrant and supportive team of internationally minded academics, you will be part of an environment dedicated to the highest standards of research and teaching. Your role will involve developing and contributing to high-quality research projects utilizing both quantitative and/or qualitative approaches, resulting in meaningful contributions to leading international conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, your research should lead into your doctoral dissertation.

As a PhD candidate, you will benefit from excellent training and developmental support throughout your time at our institute. From the first year, you will actively contribute to our teaching program, with opportunities to design and teach your own courses. Lastly, your role extends to supporting our institute and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem in which it thrives. Following the standard German model, successful candidates will be employed as a research assistant at level E 13 TV-L of the German public sector pay scale. Contracts will initially be limited to a two-year-period, but they can be extended.


You have (or are close to completing) an outstanding degree in business administration, (organizational) psychology, business informatics, or related subjects and are curious to dive deeper into entrepreneurship research. While our institu te’s working language is English and you need to be fluent in English, we expect a good command of the German language. Furthermore, basic knowledge of statistics and empirical research are highly desirable. Beyond any formal requirements, we are looking for enthusiastic candidates willing to learn and to take on responsibility.
