Context

When a new venture is created, it is also the birth hour of the new venture’s culture. In the early stage of a new venture, this is one of the top priorities for the founding team and therefore it actively forms the culture of its new venture. However, besides culture creation, the founding team needs to deal with several other organizational activities such as strategic planning, financing, imaging building etc. But the founding team does not need to do all of this alone. From research we know, that stakeholders (e.g., VCs, suppliers or employees) do actively participate in performing these activities. But their potential engagement in the culture creation process of a new venture is currently unknown. This paper aims to explain how stakeholders support the founding team directly or indirectly in the formation of a new venture’s culture and wants to offer a model about the concrete engagement mechanisms that were identified through a qualitative research approach.
