Professors’ Letter Supporting Venue Reform in U.S. Patent Litigation
Nearly half of all patent cases filed in the United States in 2015 were filed in the Eastern District of Texas, and 95% of those cases were filed by non-practicing entities (NPEs). In a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives and the United States Senate, 45 patent law academics and economics experts, among them professor Joachim Henkel, urge for a patent venue reform.
