Prof. Dr. Oliver Alexy

Prof. Dr. Oliver Alexy was a research assistant and doctoral student from May 2005 to August 2008 at the Dr. Theo Schöller-Stiftungslehrstuhl. The topic of his dissertation was titled ”Marching with the Penguin? Companies, their Employees, and Open Source Software“. From 2008 to 2012 he was a researcher at the Imperial College Business School in London. Since July 2012 he holds the Professorship for Strategic Entrepreneurship at the TU München Chair of Entrepreneurship.


Prof. Dr. Jörn Block

Prof. Dr. Jörn Block was a research assistant/doctoral student (August 2005 – March 2009) and a postdoctoral researcher (March 2011 – July 2012) at the Dr. Theo Schöller Stiftungslehrstuhl.  Since August 2012 he holds the Chair of Management at the University of Trier (http://www.uni-trier.de/index.php?id=2323).


Prof. Dr. Fabian Gaessler

Prof. Dr. Fabian Gaessler was a Professor of Technology Management from April 2018 to September 2019. The research topics pursued by him included Economics and Management of Innovation, Science and Technology, Empirical Industrial Organization, Law and Economics of Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence and Digitization. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. 


Prof. Dr. Christina Raasch

Prof. Dr. Christina Raasch was a Professor of Technology Management from January 2013 to March 2017. The research topics pursued by her and her research group included user and open innovation, online communities, and creativity and innovative behavior in companies. Since March 2017, she holds the Associate Professorship for Digital Economy at Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg in association with the Institute for the World Economy in Kiel.


Prof. Dr. Ali Samei

Prof. Dr. Ali Samei was a post-doctoral research assistant from April 2020 to September 2021. His research interests are innovation management, Upper Echelon Theory and the role of TMT in shaping innovation, behavioral foundations of innovation, and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. Since October 2021, he is a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the University of Sheffield in Sheffield, England.


Prof. Dr. Tim Schweisfurth

Prof. Dr. Tim Schweisfurth was a post-doctoral research assistant from May 2013 to January 2018. His research interests are organizing for innovation, open and user innovation, and innovative behavior in organizations. Since February 2018, he is Associate Professor for Technology and Innovation Management at the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg.


Prof. Dr. Marcus Wagner

Prof. Dr. Marcus Wagner was a post-doctoral research assistant at the Dr. Theo Schöller Stiftungslehrstuhl between August 2005 and June 2009. He habilitated in May 2009 and received the authorization to teach business studies. Since July 2009 he holds the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Corporate Growth at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.


Prof. Dr. Michael Zaggl

Prof. Dr. Michael Zaggl was research group leader from August 2013 to July 2019. His research interests are distributed innovation, digitalization, and online communities. He is an associate professor for management at Aarhus University.


Evelin Winands

Since the re-establishment of the TIM Group, Evelin Winands worked as office manager and secretary of Prof. Dr. Joachim Henkel until March 2017. Beside the secretarial tasks, she administrated the internal budget, external funding, and staff related topics.


Dr. Lucia Baur

Dr. Lucia Baur was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from October 2020 until March 2023. The title of her dissertation was: "The Adoption of Low Power Wide Area Networks in the IoT Context, with a Focus on Smart Cities".


Dr. Philipp Hartmann

Dr. Philipp Hartmann was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from September 2016 to November 2019. The title of his dissertation was: "Profiting from Artificial Intelligence: Data as a source of competitive advantage".


Dr. Virginia Herbst

Dr. Virginia Herbst was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from December 2018 to October 2021. The title of her dissertation was: "Regulation in Nascent Industries: Perspectives on Market Entry, Innovation, and Corporate Political Strategy".


Dr. Tobias Hlavka

Dr. Tobias Hlavka was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from May 2017 to May 2019. The title of his dissertation was: "Acquisitions in the Information and Communication Technology Industry – Buyer Capabilities, Technology Hype, and Target Maturity".


Dr. Moritz Fischer

Dr. Moritz Fischer was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from February 2017 to February 2019. The title of his dissertation was: " Acquisition of New Technology Firms – Pioneering Advantages and Disadvantages of Sellers and Buyers".


Dr. Anne Greul

Dr. Anne Greul was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from June 2016 to January 2019. The title of her dissertation was: "The Role of Knowledge in the Creation and Evaluation of Radical Product Ideas: Empirical Studies in the 3D Printing and Automotive Industry”.


Dr. Dominic Distel

Dr. Dominic Distel was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from January 2015 to January 2017. The title of his dissertation is: " Markets for Technology in the Semiconductor Industry – The Role of Ability-Related Trust in the Market for IP Cores".


Dr. Rainer Filitz

Dr. Rainer Filitz was a doctoral student at the Theo Schöller Stiftungslehrstuhl from 2011 to 2015. The title of his dissertation is “Design, Competition, and Intellectual Property Rights”.


Dr. Timo Fischer

Dr. Timo Fischer was a doctoral student at the Theo Schöller Stiftungslehrstuhl between 2007 and 2011. His disseration was about "Managing Value Capture - Empirical Analyses of Managerial Challenges in Capturing Value".


Dr. Daniel Hoenig

Dr. Daniel Hoenig was a research assistant and external doctoral student at the TIM group from 2010 to 2012. In his dissertation he investigated "The Role of Patents in Venture Capital Financing - an Empirical Analysis from Different Perspectives."


Dr. Alexander Hoffmann

Dr. Alexander Hoffmann was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from January 2013 to January 2015. The title of his dissertation was: "Value Capture in Disintegrated Value Chains: The Hierarchy Strategy".


Dr. Florian Jell

Florian Jell was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from 2007 to 2011. The title of his dissertation was: "Strategies and Management of Filing Patent Applications - An Empirical Study".


Dr. Stefanie Lernbecher (née Pangerl)

Dr. Stefanie Lernbecher was a research assistant and doctoral student at the Theo Schöller-Stiftungslehrstuhl from February 2005 to January 2009. The title of her dissertation is “Freedom of action and the acquisition of profit through innovation: An empirical analysis of defensive publishing”. Stefanie Lernbecher now works as a team leader and senior project manager at HYVE - the innovation company.


Robert Lüttke

Robert Lüttke was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from October 2010 to October 2015. The dissertation is about the Linux Operating System and the motivations of external developers to contribute to commercial projects. The dissertation is in the making.


Dr. Daniel Obermeier

Dr. Daniel Obermeier was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from October 2017 until August 2022. The title of his dissertation was: "Blockchains’ Potential to Reshape the Economy: An Examination of Trust and Decentralization in SmartContract-Based Applications".


Dr. Philipp Pfingstag

Philipp Pfingstag was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from October 2013 to December 2017. The title of his dissertation was: "Economic Aspects of Synthetic Biology - The interplay Between Intellectual Property Rights, Research Tools, and Researcher Productivity". His dissertation is currently under review.


Dr. Simone Schöberl (née Käs)

Dr. Simone Schöberl was a research assistant and external doctoral student at the chair from 2005 to 2007. Her dissertation was on the topic of: ”Rethinking industry practice: The emergence of openness in the embedded component industry“. After receiving her doctoral degree she returned to McKinsey in February 2008.


Dr. Anja Schön

Anja Schön was a research assistant at the TIM group from October 2009 to October 2013. Her dissertation had the title "University-to-Industry Technology Transfer: Organizational Aspects".


Dr. Claus Schöttl

Dr. Claus Schöttl was a research assistant and doctoral student at the TIM group from December 2016 to June 2022. The title of his dissertation was: "Distributed Decision-Making in Organizations – Evidence from Idea Evaluation Systems". He was voted "most handsome alumnus" four consecutive times.


Dr. Manuel Sojer

Dr. Manuel Sojer was a research assistant and external doctoral student at the Theo Schöller Stiftungslehrstuhl from 2008 to 2010. The title of his dissertation was: ”Reusing Open Source Code: Value Creation and Value Appropriation Perspectives on Knowledge Reuse“.


Dr. Frank Spiegel

Dr. Frank Spiegel was a research assistant at the TIM group from November 2008 to July 2012. His dissertation had the title "Family firms and innovation – empirical analyses on the level of regions, firms and patents".


Dr. Annika Stiegler (née Bock)

Dr. Annika Stiegler was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from August 2009 to December 2011. The title of her dissertation was: "User-Manufacturer Integration – How User-Innovator Firms Exploit Their Innovativeness by Vertical Diversification".


Dr. Lisa Teubner

Dr. Lisa Teubner was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from November 2015 to December 2020. The title of her dissertation was: "Industry consortia in mobile telecommunications: Firm behaviour, taxonomy, and implications for practicioners and policymakers".


Dr. Katharina Tanimura

Katharina Tanimura was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from December 2012 to March 2018. The title of her dissertation was: "The patent value chain: Organizational processes, strategic integration, and implications for management research".


Dr. Michael Vetter

Dr. Michael Vetter was a research assistant and doctoral student at the chair from September 2018 to April 2021. The title of his dissertation was: "Acquisitions and Open Source Software Development".


Dr. Josef Waltl

Dr. Josef Waltl was a research assistant at the TIM group from January 2011 to December 2012. His dissertation had the title "IP Modularity in Software Products and Software Platform Ecosystems".


Dr. Johannes Wechsler

Dr. Johannes Wechsler was an external doctoral student at the Theo Schöller Stiftungslehrstuhl from September 2007 to December 2009. His dissertation was about "Openness in the Music Business - How record labels and artists may profil from reducing control".
