TransforM Cluster

Munich Center for Transformative Technologies and Societal Change: From more innovation to better innovation.
As a Cluster of Excellence funded by the German Research Foundation DFG, TransforM tries to better understand why, when, and how technologies become socially transformative, and to critically assess and inform transformation pathways ‘all the way through’ – from the early stages of their emergence to their wider socio-economic impact. TransforM strives to advance social science for highly technologized societies to better understand and shape the transformative power of technology.
Since entrepreneurship is a key mechanism for disseminating technologies into markets and societies, the ERI plays a key role in TransforM. Besides ERI professors Oliver Alexy (Principal Investigator), Nicola Breugst (Principal Investigator) and Holger Patzelt (Principal Investigator and TransforM co-speaker), several ERI post-docs and doctoral students are part of TransforM.
