Research Interests
Mohammed Bendaanane is Research Associate at TUM Enetrepreneurship Research Institute.
His research interests broadly focus on the role of business in addressing grand societal challenges, predominantly occurring at the intersection of entrepreneurship and poverty contexts. His current research focuses on mini-grid ventures in Kenya and their effort to electrify rural communities. In a second research stream, Mohammed focusses on informal economy entrepreneurs as they navigate necessity, poverty and violence. His methodological approach relies qualitative methods, specifically multi-case theory-building, geographic data and spatial analysis, and phenomenon-driven inquiries. Prior to entering academia, Mohammed worked in the field of social entrepreneurship and co-founded Amendy Foods and was an engineer specializing in mapping a remote sensing in the geospatial industry .
